Interlocation Assignments
Welcome to our ILA Site!
What is an Interlocation Assignment (ILA)?
An ILA is an arrangement under which a Berkeley Lab employee is assigned to an eligible institution to perform work, at a specified percentage of effort (may range from 1% - 100%), duration, & cost.
While on the ILA assignment, the employee continues to receive 100% of his/her paycheck and benefits through Berkeley Lab. This ensures continuity of the employee’s pay, UC employment history/service credit and benefits.
The Lab administers three different programs under the ILA: Multi-location Assignments (MLA), Intergovernmental Personnel Assignment (IPA) and seldom, Inter-jurisdictional Employee Exchange (IJE).
